LUGA satellite project – Guided tour in the Parc Landewyck
Landimmo Real Estate, as the owner of Parc Landewyck, offers guided tours on three different dates in spring (22/05), summer (18/07) and autumn (26/09), from 2.30pm to 4pm respectively.
Parc Landewyck is one of the oldest parks in Luxembourg City and has given its name to a new neighbourhood in the PAP Nei Hollerich. The aim of these visits is to “make the invisible visible” by offering everyone the chance to discover our magnificent private park – which is invisible all year long.
The park was created in the framework of the construction of the new Heintz van Landewyck tobacco factory in the 1890s, when the head office in the upper town became too small. Jos Heintz, son of the company’s founder Jean-Pierre Heintz and his wife Joséphine van Landewyck, planned to make the new site – located in the municipality of Hollerich, which was still independent at the time – much more than just a production site: He wanted to turn it into a meeting place for family and business partners. The chosen site offered enough space to implement many spectacular ideas.
Today, the park covers 1.2 hectares and is a listed “monument national’. As part of the “Nei Hollerich” project, it will be transferred to the City of Luxembourg in a few years’ time, making it accessible to the public. In the meantime, a number of measures still need to be taken to ensure that the park can be used by everyone and can fulfil its function as a central green lung and a place of relaxation and recreation for local residents.
If you wish to participate in one of the guided tours, all you have to do is register by e-mail: marketing@lire.lu, giving your full name, e-mail address and the date on which you would like to participate (places are limited to 25 people per date). An email confirming your registration will then be sent to you.
